Flight Departures at Bologna Airport

Bologna Airport only has a single terminal. The ground floor is where passengers and travelers check in and out. The boarding gates and security checkpoint are on the ground floor of the building.

If you are planning on flying to a domestic destination, it is recommended that you arrive at the airport an hour before your flight. For international flights, it is better to get to the airport at least two hours before departure.

The security check may take a little longer, depending on the number of people in the airport. Once through security, your cabin baggage will undergo an X-ray.

Lounges at Bologna Airport

The Marconi Business Lounge is a great place to unwind or get some last-minute preparations done before a flight.

Economy-class travelers can use the facilities of the Marconi Business Lounge at Bologna Airport. It's on Terminal Island's landside. The lounge can be reached by taking the glass elevator to the right of the security checkpoint.

The bar is accessible between the hours of 5:00 AM and 8:00 PM. Priced at £ 32.00 per passenger, these passes are available to all passengers regardless of fare class or airline flown.

Lounge access is granted to Oneworld, SkyTeam, Star Alliance, and American Express cardholders flying in first or business class. Those with a Priority Pass can also use the facility.

Transfer Services at Bologna Airport

There are various options, such as taxis, buses, trains, and car rentals. Bologna, however, doesn't have ridesharing services.

TPER buses to Bologna's center are popular. The trip takes about 20 minutes. Cat Radio Taxi and Cotabo offer 24-hour taxi services. The Marconi Express is a convenient way to reach Bologna's central station. The Monorail takes 7 minutes to get to the city center. Sixt, Hertz, and Avis are car rental companies available at the airport.

Getting To the Airport

The Marconi Express runs between the Bologna Airport and the Bologna Centrale Train Station. If you leave from the outskirts, you'll arrive in the heart of Bologna in about 7 minutes.

The train leaves the station at about 5:40 in the morning and does not return until about 7:00 in the evening. Tickets cost €9.20 one way or €17 for a round trip. The return trip can be made within 30 days of the first trip.

It takes about 20 minutes to get from the airport to Maggiore Hospital, and a shuttle bus runs back and forth every 20 minutes.

However, the quickest and easiest way to get from Bologna's city center to the airport is by taxi. From downtown to the airport, you can take your pick of several different taxi services. The fare increases during the holidays, but on a regular day, it is only about €15.
